Hi, I’m Elissa — the human behind Cow Cat Pilates!
Cow Cat is a private, one-on-one Pilates studio in Long Island City.
I started it after noticing a gap in group reformer classes: instruction moving too quickly, corrections being rushed or missed, and people not getting the full benefit of the work. I wanted to create a space that is welcoming, unpressured, and truly individualized, where instruction meets you exactly where you are.
I came to Pilates through my own body breaking down. Years of desk work, stress, and constant sitting left me dealing with the effects of a body that wasn’t being cared for properly. Pilates showed me how much can shift when you understand how your body actually works.
My training is through the Kane School in New York City, classical Pilates grounded in anatomy and biomechanics. In practice, that means we focus on why your body moves the way it does: your habits, history, and goals shape every session.
Whatever you need, but here's what tends to come up a lot:
To help you leave each session feeling more connected to your body than when you walked in. We follow your body’s cues and make sure you understand why each movement matters.
Nope! We welcome clients of any experience level. Whether this is your first time ever doing or hearing about Pilates, or you're a seasoned practitioner, you're in the right place. We start where you are.

The biggest difference is that everything here is one-on-one. Instead of general cues for a group, each session is fully tailored to your body and needs that day. There’s always intention behind what we’re doing, based on how your body moves and responds.
We're at 33-01 38th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens. The closest subway stops are the N/W at 39th Ave (Dutch Kills) and the M/R at 36th Street. Both are just a short walk away. We recommend taking the subway or walking, as street parking in the area can be limited.
Comfy clothes you can move freely in! Try to avoid anything with zippers, buttons, or hardware as they can snag or scratch the equipment.
Grip socks are required for all sessions for safety and hygiene. Any Pilates or yoga grip socks work great.
All private sessions are 50 minutes.
